    Following the success of Terrano in domestic market, Nissan is planning to bring third generation X-Trail SUV to India. The SUV will underpin the same platform as its sibling Qashqai which is reportedly also being built for the local market.

  • Hyundai i20 Sport

    Developed at Hyundai's German technical centre in Russelsheim, the Kappa T-GDI engine in the Hyundai i20 Sport is a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit which is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. 

     

  • Datsun Go-Cross

    Datsun showcased the Go Cross subcompact SUV in India at the 2016 Auto Expo. The GO-Cross will initiate Datsun to the growing crossover segment and will also be its flagship model. In fact, from what we know, it'll be under 4 metres and we don't think that the car will see a seven seat configuration like on the GO+ MPV. While the 1.2-litre petrol unit is the same as the one that does duty on the GO hatchback and GO+ MPV, the 1.5-litre dCi diesel will be borrowed from the Nissan Micra.

The SUV is the first production car to feature an electric power compressor that adds further dint to its performance.   • Jeep Renegade

    Built on the small wide, 4x4 platform that also underpins Fiat 500X, Jeep Renegade is likely to be introduced in India via CBU route. Although, localisation is on cards but it will take some time post launch. Under the hood, the SUV will reportedly get a 2.0 litre Multijet2 engine offering power in two tunes available with a choice of manual and autobox.

  • Tata Q501

    Codenamed Q501, this one will be Tata Motors' most premium SUV in India. The new SUV will be positioned as a 'midsized SUV' and will be built on the older but very capable Freelander 2 platform. The hybrid and Plug-in versions will share the new kappa 1.6 litre, four cylinder, GDI petrol engine producing 104bhp along with 147Nm and will come mated to a six-speed dual clutch gearbox.
