    Kia Motors has finally taken the wraps off the Seltos and it looks true to the SP concept which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Kia Seltos has been designed and developed specifically for the Indian market and looks promising as an overall package. The overall design language of the Seltos is aggressive and sharp line on the face and shoulder helps shaping its bulges aesthetically. The face boasts the wide Tiger nose grille and there are chrome surrounding around it. Sleek LED headlamps, DRLs, bold claddings which incorporate silver skid plates and angular detailing on the face and hood add a sense of modernity to the design. A bit of Creta flavour is also visible in the side, especially with the way pillars have been designed. However, rising window line and sculpting on the rear haunches are unique. The rear of the car looks very urban and the tailgate is aesthetically segmented, giving almost equal area to the raked windscreen and lower sections. Elements like sleek chrome bar which insets into the tail lamps and dual exhaust finished in faux silver add to the looks as well. What also build upon the contemporary looks are in-trend elements like dual-tone roof, silver roof rails and 17-inch machined alloy wheels.

    Hyundai has unveiled the 2019 Tucson facelift more power and a host of new tech on offer.The Hyundai Tucson facelift comes with new headlmaps, DRLs and a cascading front grille. The grille now features four chrome slat instead of three on the predecessor, while the fog lamp housing and bumper has also been revised on the model. The 2019 Hyundai Tucson also gets a more seamless looking taillight design, while the reflectors have moved up on the tailgate in-line with the number plate holder.

    The Renault Triber is a budget MPV from French company Renault. It is a 7-seater vehicle based on the Renault Kwid. The big USP of the Renault Triber is that it will get detachable third-row seats which can be taken out to optimise the cargo space. It will have manual folding and unlatching operation that would be simple for most people to carry out. The Renault Triber is based on a slightly modified version of the CMF-A platform which underpins a range of Renault and Nissan products including the Kwid and Datsun Redi-Go. Renault India has confirmed that the upcoming offering will be positioned in India between the Kwid and the Duster. The upcoming Renault Triber will be a compact car; similar to the Datsun GO+, but it will not be a sub-4 metre vehicle like the latter. Having said that, the Triber is also expected to be a lot more rigid, offering improved crash capacity and more safety features to make it compliant with the stringent safety norms that will be regulated from October 2019. This also means that features like ABS with EBD, dual-airbags standard, rear parking sensor, driver seatbelt reminder, and speed alert will be offered as standard fitment. The Renault Triber will also be offered in a wide variety of variants meaning the pricing of the lower variants will be aggressive and the top trims will be loaded with features.

Mechanically, the 2019 Volkswagen Vento will remain unchanged, featuring the same 1.2-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine which puts out 105 bhp and 175 Nm of peak torque, a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine which develops 103 bhp and 153 Nm of peak torque and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel unit which churns out 108 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque.

    The Aston Martin DBX will be powered by an AMG sourced 493 bhp, 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 motor. The company is also expected to offer the DBX with its in-house V12 engine sometime later and a hybrid variant with improved low-end torque is also under evaluation. The spy pictures also show a roll cage at the rear and some extra hardware on the rear seat which simulates the added weight of the rear passengers. Since it's still a prototype, production-ready elements like final taillights and the flush rear door handles are missing at the rear.

The 2020 Volvo XC90 SUV gets tweaks including the new grille that is in-line with the automaker's more recent offerings. The internal housing for the headlamps has been revised while the Thor's hammer continues to dominate the face. The alloy wheel design is new and so are the exterior colours. Inside, the SUV continues to retain the same design and layout as the current model, but the big change is the addition of a six-seater configuration as opposed to the current five and seven-seater layouts. The vertically-stacked touchscreen infotainment system is also available with Android Auto compatibility now, even as Apple CarPlay has been available for a while. The system will also come integrated with Spotify music streaming in markets where the feature is available.

    Mercedes-Benz revealed its compact 7 seater SUV - the GLB. The SUV will be positioned between the GLA and the GLC. Yes, there's a third row, but Mercedes-Benz is very clear in stating that the the 2 seats in the last row are optional. The all-new 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB will celebrate its World Premiere in Utah in June and will go on sale worldwide later this year. The GLB is 4634mm long, 1834 mm wide and stands tall at 1658 mm. At 2829 millimetres the GLB has 100 mm more wheelbase than the new B-Class. The headroom in the first seat row is 1035 millimetres - a best in this segment. At 967 mm the effective legroom in the rear of the five-seater according to Mercedes-Benz is comfortable. The load compartment capacity of 560 to 1755 litres (figures for the five-seater). On request the second seat row can be longitudinally adjusted and as standard the inclination of the backrests is adjustable in several stages. This enables the load compartment to be enlarged by up to 179 litres. The new GLB is manufactured at the Aguascalientes (Mexico) plant and, for the Chinese market, in Beijing. The Mercedes-Benz GLB comes with a range of safety equipment including retractable head restraints, seat belts with belt tensioners, a side window airbag which also protects the passengers in the third seat row plus ISOFIX and TOP-Tether anchorages for suitable child seats. These can be used to attach up to four child seats in the rear. Comfort details in the third row include two drinks holders between the seats as well as two stowage compartments with a rubberised insert on the left and right in the load compartment trim, each with a USB port. The seats can be lowered so that they are flush with the load compartment floor in order to extend the load compartment.

    The Audi e-Tron is the first electric vehicle to be introduced by the Ingolstadt-based carmaker, and the SUV made its global debut at the Geneva International Motor Show 2018. Ahead of its launch, Audi India has also planned to showcase the e-Tron SUV in India on June 27, 2019, making it the first electric car from a luxury carmaker reach the Indian shores.

  • Skoda Scala

    Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, M&M has confirmed that the new electric SUV will be launched during 2019-2020 financial year, and we believe it could be based on the KUV100. We have already told you that the company is planning to introduce two new electric vehicles by 2019, and one of them is possibly the Mahindra KUV100 electric vehicle. The electric version will be powered by a 380-volt system coupled with a 150 kW battery pack that will provide a driving range of 250 kms.

    The Bavarian premium carmaker BMW has added yet another flagship sedan to its global line up with the global unveil of the all new BMW 8 Series coupe. The BMW 8-Series Coupe will make its official launch this year in November and will be manufactured at the BMW Dingolfing plant, which is also the home for the new 7-series. To put things into perspective, the new 8 series coupe holds the status of the high-ranking status within BMW’s product range, such as the BMW Z8 and also the BMW i8 electric sedan. Moreover, the new 8 series coupe is also an important product for BMW's strategy in developing new products for the future. The new BMW 8-Series coupe was developed in parallel to the BMW M8 GTE, which had already proven its potential in the FIA World Endurance Championship. Visually, the 8 Series coupe’s low-slung design, an elongated silhouette with a slim window graphic and a floating roofline shaped the rear with distinctive “double-bubble" contouring. The long wheelbase and wide track widths of the 8 series also replicates into more space on the inside for the rear passengers as well. The exterior dimensions measures up to 4,843 mm in length, 1,902 mm in width, 1,341 mm in height and 2,822 mm of wheelbase.

    The Citroen C5 Aircross is all set to hit the Indian markets soon and it’ll enter a very busy compact SUV segment. The company is all set to bring the car to India by 2020. The C5 Aircross will take on the likes of the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson and the upcoming Kia SP2i SUV. The SUV will be produced at the company's Hosur-based facility in Tamil Nadu with about 95 per cent of local content going in. The new Citroen C5 Aircross was unveiled last year globally. Measuring 4500 mm in length, the SUV boasts of a compact appearance with a wide grille up front and sleek looking split headlamp design complete with LED daytime running lights. The car carries Hyundai's latest design language - Sensuous Sportiness - that made its debut with the Palisade full-size SUV and the Sonata sedan. It has three key elements that define the new look - the large, wide and tall cascade grille, slim indicator lights atop and the distinct vertical DRL signature surrounding the headlamp. The next-gen Creta is likely to be shown at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo in February, with sales commencing only around mid-2020 in India. This will be followed by the car going into production as the Creta in Russia and also selling in Brazil.

    The LC500h will be positioned as a GT or Grand Tourer. India will only get the hybrid variant of the LC. Sadly, we won't get the one with the V8 engine. Then again, given that Lexus India's portfolio currently boasts of majority cars getting hybrid powertrains, this move does not come as a surprise. The LC500h will get the 3.5-litre petrol engine which produces 295 bhp. There are two electric motors which will produce 177bhp and there's a lithium ion battery for the energy to be stored. Now total combined output stands at 354bhp and this translates into a 0-100 kmph time of just above 5 seconds.
