TVS’ Apache series offers the most butch bikes in the former’s range. Having been around for a while, the Apache series has proved its mettle in the 150cc and 180cc segment. With the addition of new RTR 200 4V version to the range, TVS eyes bolstering the Apache brand in terms of performance. The Carburator version of the Apache RTR 200 V4 costs you Rs. 88,990, whereas the Fuel Injection variant has been priced at Rs. 1,07,000 (Prices are Ex-showroom, Delhi).
By far the new TVS RTR 200 V4 is the most masculine looking option in the Apache family, although there is a fair amount of similarity with the rest of the RTRs making it identifiable with other Apaches. Power generation is done by an all new 198cc engine which promises decent output. The telescopic forks in front and monoshock suspension at rear work together to keep the bike poised on irregular surface. The low 148 kg weight infers a good power to weight ratio, this in turn ensures a great performance.
Apache 200 RTR 4V Looks
As mentioned above, there is a striking resemblance with RTR 160 and RTR 180, but the new RTR 200 appears leaner. Despite sporting a slim semblance, the bike features the requisite flesh and creases that sticker it as a naked bike. The body gets prominent cuts especially around the sculpted fuel tank.
These sharp cuts apart from lending assertive stance also direct the air-flow towards the spark plug. The cockpit features a digital speedometer unlike other popular names in TVS line-up which get part-digital speedo. To cut down on weight, clip-on handlebars composed of forged aluminium are fitted.
Apache 200 RTR 4V Engine Specifications & Transmission
TVS has employed a newly developed 198cc, four stroke, oil-cooled engine available in a fuel injected as well as carburetted versions. Power on offer is a good around 20bhp at 7000rpm and 18.1Nm at 7000rpm. A five-speed transmission is mated to the 198cc engine for transmitting power to tyres.
Apache RTR 2004V Features
The digital speedometer features a gear shift indicator, odometer, tachometer, fuel level, lap timer, trip meter, service reminder, top spread read out and low battery indicator. The split seats are comfortable and provide ample space for rider and pillion. Tapered side rear panel end in a captivating LED rear light. A grab rail is provided for the convenience of the pillion.
Apache RTR 2004V Performance & Mileage
Performance delivered by the new 198cc engine lacks punch at higher revs, but otherwise it shows signs of spark at low revs. Out of the two versions- fuel injected engine scores high in terms of performance as it responds well to throttle and power delivery is much better than the carburetted version.
TVS Apache RTR 2004V Braking & Handling
Braking action is undertaken by a single 270mm petal disc brake in front and 240mm disc brake at rear. Handling is imposing even at sharp corners during high speeds. The pirelli rubbers available exclusively on the top end version offer more grip when brakes are applied or around corners. ABS will be offered later on to provide added dint for braking.
TVS Apache RTR 2004V Tyres & Wheels
The 17 inches, ten spoke aluminium alloy wheels are shod with TVS Remora tubeless tyres. The front tyre measures 90/90-17, whereas the rear one measures 130/70-17.
