Renault Fluence Preview
Renault Fluence was launched in 2011 when the company decided on resuming its operations in India. It may not be a very popular option in its segment, but it certainly has flair to become one given the kind of elements it embodies. The long sleek sedan wears a pleasant design which is further accentuated by tasteful styling. Fluence range is available only in diesel engine, although the petrol version was rolled out initially, but it was barred later. The diesel engine in question is the 1.5 litre, direct injection diesel engine pumping out 110PS at 4000rpm along with 240Nm at 1850rpm. Surprisingly the model series lacks an automatic tranny, hence making do with the manual gearbox.
Launched in 2011 at Rs 12.99 lakh, Fluence was the first model to be rolled out by Renault India during its second iteration. After being associated with Logan, this was a chance for Renault to come up with a great product, as this being its first independent model had a lot riding on it. Although, Fluence could not do wonders in terms of sales, but it is a good looking car. In 2014 a facelift version with improved exterior and interior styling and some additional features inside the cabin was rolled out. Mechanically, the saloon remains unchanged housing the same set of engines as its predecessor. Initially, the saloon was available with petrol and diesel engines, but later the petrol variants were removed from the line-up.
Renault Fluence Exterior
The voguish exterior styling makes Fluence one of the good looking cars in the premium mid-size sedan space. Front profile, in particular is eye catching with the large Renault logo placed in the middle of the sleek from grille. The petal shaped headlamps and the large trapezoidal air-dams on lower side of bumper look nice. Side panels have a sharp beltline running across the length of the saloon. The fat tyres tucked inside flared wheel arches get new 16-inch alloy wheels. Renault has used chrome amply in front, side and on rear profile.
Renault Fluence Interior
The spacious cabin is packed with features such as arm rest in front with storage box and cup holder, a soft touch dashboard, premium blended leather upholstery and an arm rest at rear with a cup holder.
Renault Fluence Engine Specifications & Transmission

Renault Fluence Accessories & Infotainment
Fluence gets a CD MP3 player with radio, steering mounted audio controls, 4 speakers, 4 tweeters, USB & AUX-in, Bluetooth connectivity, Handsfree telephony and central display.

Renault Fluence Safety & Security
To ensure safety of the driver and passengers, Renault has armed Fluence with the following safety equipment-aspherical driver side ORVM, electronic stability programme, anti-slip regulation , speed limiter, anti-rust warranty, SRS airbags for driver and passenger, side-chest level airbags for front seats, ISOFIX, engine and transmission guard, anti-pinch windows etc.
Renault Fluence Comfort & Convenience
Among the various comfort goodies packed in the saloon, here are some of the vital features-front parking assist, rear parking assist, semi-automatic climate control, dual zone automatic climate control, rear AC vents, illuminated glove-box, driver seat lumbar support, tilt & telescopic steering, power steering, smart access cars entry, engine start/stop, cruise control and speed limiter, power adjusting & power foldable ORVMs.
Renault Fluence Wheels & Tyres
The fat tyres are wrapped with redesigned 16-inch alloy wheels. With minimal space between tyres and arches, the overall view from side is quite convincing.
Renault Fluence Competition
The popularity of the premium mid-size sedan segment has faded over the couple of years, yet carmakers are hopeful that refreshed models will recreate the magic. As of now, the segment has some strong contenders including Toyota’s globally popular Corolla Altis, Volkswagen Jetta, Hyundai Elantra and Skoda Octavia.
