Maruti Suzuki XL6
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is the newest MPV from the company and the first 3-row model to be offered by its premium dealership network, Nexa. The car is a premium MPV based on the Ertiga, which comes with a 6-seater layout, gets a BS6 compliant petrol-only engine, and offered in both manual and automatic option.
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is based on the Ertiga, however, the car comes with all-new SUV-like styling, and a host of premium features, most of which are standard.
Maruti Suzuki XL6 is fairly new car and the company says that the side metal panels and the tailgate are the only parts that have been borrowed from the Ertiga. Rest all is new.
The new XL6 gets an all-new front end, featuring a new grille, new quad-LED headlamps, a muscular bumper with bold cladding that add to the butch look. In fact, the front of the MPV has been raised by 95 mm compared to the Ertiga to gets the SUV proportions.
Also, compared to the Ertiga, the XL6 is 50 mm longer, 40 mm wider, and 10 mm taller, however, it gets the same 2740 mm wheelbase. The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is also 20kgs heavier due to the extra cladding.
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is offed in only two variants - Zeta and Alpha and packed to the gills with features. All the exterior features and styling elements are standard for both variants. Features like the all-LED headlamps, black 15-inch alloy wheels, black ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, roof rails and LED taillamps with light guides are all standard.
The new Maruti Suzuki XL6 gets an all-black cabin, compared to the Ertiga's beige-black interior. Furthermore, the car is more equipped as well, featuring revised dashbord with stone finish and a six-seater cabin with blakc leatherette upholstery.
The new XL6 comes with 2+2+2 cabin layout with captain seats in the second row. The seats come with individual arm rests, along with sliding and reclining function.
The XL6 also gets a nice third-row, which unlike most compact MPVs, is very much usable for adults as well. It comes with reclining function, retractable 3-point seat belts, and a 12V charger as well.
With all three rows erect, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 offers a boot space of 209 litres, however, you can increase that to 550 litres by folding the 3rd row, and to 692 litres by folding both the 2nd and 3rd rows.
The new XL6 also gets an updated Smart Play infotainment system, which of course gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and navigation with live traffic update through Smart Play Studio app, all these are standard.
Maruti also offered a cooled bottle/can holder on the centre console along with a bunch of different storage spaces and cubby holes.
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 also comes with cruise control now, with the controls mounted on the steering wheel. It is offered with both the automatic and manual transmission variants.
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is powered by a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine that is tuned to churn out 103 bhp and 138 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to both a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic torque converter.
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is stylish, feature-packed and smartly priced. The car was launched starting at Rs. 9.79 lakh for the Zeta manual, while the AT at Rs 10.89 lakh. The Alpha manual is at Rs 10.36 lakh while the AT sets you back Rs 11.46 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
