Royal Enfield took a fresh take on the ageing Thunderbird 350 and 500 motorcycles with the X series, and the bikes certainly look refreshing in the new and more vibrant avatar. Adding more personalisation options for customers now, Royal Enfield has introduced new accessories for the Thunderbird 350X and Thunderbird 500X that can be purchased from the company showrooms across the country. The Chennai-based bike maker has updated its website with the new accessory catalog that range from ₹ 800 for the oil filler caps, going all the way up to ₹ 9500 for the alloy wheels.

The Royal Enfield Thunderbird X accessory range include machined oil filler caps, powder-coated engine guards, brake fluid reservoir caps, bike cover, windshield kit and a fly screen. You also can purchase a passenger backrest, powder coated pannier rails and even soft canvas panniers. The most expensive accessory available are the alloy wheels that are made of cast aluminium and can be had in 18-inch and 19-inch sizes. Royal Enfield is also retailing the Thunderbird X merchandise via its website which includes X themed t-shirts and half-faced helmets finished in the X colours.

The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350X and 500X look urban and contemporary while retaining a retro touch from the original bike. Compared to the standard Royal Enfield Thunderbird, the 350X and 500X gets blacked out components like the engine, front forks, side covers, headlamp cover, indicators, grab rail and the exhaust. The fuel tank has been finished in a contrast colour scheme with white and red shades offered on the Thunderbird 350X, while orange and blue colours are available on the Thunderbird 500X.

The fuel tank colours extended on other parts of the bike like the seat stitching and rim-tapes on the alloy wheels. Furthermore, the Royal Enfield Thunderbird X series gets a short flat-handlebar that makes for a more relaxed riding position, while the dual-seat seat-up has been replaced with a single gunslinger-styled seat. Braking performance has also improved with disc brakes at either end now. The Thunderbird X also come with tubeless tyres, a first from the manufacturer.

Power on the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X comes from the same 499 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with electronic fuel injection that  produces 27.2 bhp at 5250 rpm and 41.3 Nm torque at 4000 rpm. The Thunderbird 350X uses the 346 cc twinspark engine tuned for 19.8 bhp at 5250 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 4000 rpm. Both motors come paired to a 5-speed gearbox.

The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350X is priced at ₹ 1.56 lakh, while the Thunderbird 500X is priced at ₹ 1.98 lakh. Both models are priced at a premium of about ₹ 8000 over the standard versions.
