Next Generation Hyundai Verna Revealed; Will Come To India In 2017
With the launch of the all-new Elantra in India, Hyundai made a strong statement when it came to design and we're sure a whole lot of people are already falling for the bold looks of the sedan. We aren't saying this off the top of our heads but the bookings that the Elantra has received speak volumes of our claim. Well, now, the Hyundai Verna also receives a similar treatment and the next generation of the car was officially revealed at the 2016 Chengdu Motor Show in China earlier this week. The car closely resembles the concept that was unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show in April 2016
2017 Hyundai Verna Interior
Based on the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy, the new generation Hyundai Verna is angular and bears resemblance to the all-new Elantra sedan. The geometric patterns continue as we see the bold trapezoidal grille up front with the massive chrome finished horizontal slats. We also see the swept back headlamps are reminiscent of the ones on the existing model but thanks to the overall design of the car, the face now looks sharper. The cluster comes shod with projector lights, LED DRLs, while the bumper gets angular fog lamps.
2017 Hyundai Verna Dashboard
The new generation Verna's side profile continues to retain the coupe-like roofline, but you do get a redesigned C-pillar, while the rear gets a toned and well sculpted design with the wraparound LED tail lamps which add a bit of oomph to the car. There's also an integrated lip spoiler into the boot-lid and a clean looking bumper with reflectors on either end. The new Hyundai Verna measures 4380mm in length, 1728mm in width, 1468mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2600mm, all of which makes the sedan much larger than the outgoing model. In fact, the new version gets its wheelbase extended by 30mm, making for improved rear seat legroom.
2017 Hyundai Verna Side Profile
The cabin of the new-gen Verna bears resemblance to that of the Elantra but we thank our stars that the asymmetrical looking air vents are not part of this. The all-black cabin looks premium and gets brushed silver finish all over. Then, there is a very busy steering wheel, which houses the controls for bluetooth, cruise control and the trip meter. There's a large 8-inch touchscreen display in the centre console and it'll also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity options (which we've seen in the Elantra). Other features will include auto climate control, sunroof, push button start and much more.
2017 Hyundai Verna Rear Profile
The 2017 Hyundai Verna will be powered by 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel naturally aspirated engines that will produce power between 98bhp to 120bhp. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and automatic. The automatic though will be available only on the 1.6-litre versions of the car. The new gen Verna will be making its way to the Indian market only next year to pose as a rival to the likes of Honda City
and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz
in the segment.
