Images of a near-production test mule of the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 have recently surfaced online. The car was caught on the camera while undergoing testing at the Nurburgring circuit. The hotter version of the AMG CLA 35 appears to be undergoing the final stages of testing with minimal camouflage. Expected to be unveiled sometime in the coming months, the new Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 has been spotted just days after we shared spy photos of the AMG A45 hot hatchback from the Nurburgring.
Under the hood, the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder motor that has been tuned to churn out 382 bhp and develop 480 Nm of peak torque. The engine will make its debut with the AMG A 45 hatchback which is expected to be unveiled later this month. Mercedes-AMG will also offer two versions of the motor the standard and the S version, with the latter making 416 bhp and 500 Nm. The engine will come mated an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox along with the company's trusted 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. The car will also come with a Drift Mode allowing drivers to make the tail slide.
Visually, the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 looks almost production ready featuring styling bits like the Panamericana grille with vertical slats and the stylish angular LED headlamps with eyebrow-styled LED daytime running lamps. The aggressive AMG bumper comes with a wide central airdam with large air intakes on either end. The car also runs on a set of sporty AMG-style wheels with AMG body kit and a sporty rear bumper with diffuser and a quad-exhaust system. The car also comes with a set of sleek LED taillamps and a new rear spoiler.
