The Mahindra XUV300 is the newest subcompact SUV from Mahindra and will go up against established rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport. We have already driven the Mahindra XUV300, told you about the engine specifications, its features and also how it stacks up against the competition on paper. But what we don't know yet, are the prices. Mahindra will be launching the XUV300 in four variants which are W4, W6 W8 and the top-of-the-line W8 (O) variant, which gets all the bells and whistles.

We expect the base W4 variant to be priced around ₹ 8.5 lakh and the next variant, which is W6, to be priced at ₹ 9.5 lakh. Sure, they may not be high on creature comforts, but they do get anti-lock brakes (ABS) and dual airbags as standard. With segment first features like dual-zone climate control with memory function, modes for steering feel, tyre pressure monitoring systems, front parking sensors and so on, the W8 and more specifically, the W8 (O) could be priced at ₹ 10.5 lakh and ₹ 12 lakh respectively. Also, the W8 (O) variant will also get segment first 7 airbags, so we would definitely recommend the top model. All expected prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

In comparison, the prices of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza start at ₹ 8.45 lakh and go up to ₹ 12.31 lakh. Similarly, the prices of the Ford EcoSport start at ₹ 8.79 lakh and go up to ₹ 13.91 lakh. Finally, the prices of the Tata Nexon start at ₹ 7 lakh and go up to ₹ 12.48 lakh. All prices mentioned here are on-road Delhi.
As far as engine specifications are concerned, the Mahindra XUV300 will get a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine makes 110 bhp and 200 newton metres of peak torque while the diesel engine pumps out 115 bhp and churns out a class-leading torque of 300 newton metres. A 6-speed gearbox is standard and there will be no automatic for now.
