KTM 390 Adventure, 390 Scrambler Spotted Testing

Two of KTM's upcoming motorcycle models, based on the KTM 390 Duke, have been spotted undergoing test runs in Austria. One of the bikes is expected to be the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure, and the second bike is a Scrambler, also based on the 390.

KTM seems to be ready to unveil two new variants of its popular single-cylinder street bike, the KTM 390 Duke. Two new upcoming models, both based on the 390 Duke, have been spotted undergoing test runs near Mattighofen, in Austria, confirming what has been reported for quite some time now, that a KTM 390 Adventure is on its way. The second bike though, is a bit of a surprise, because it extends the 390 series to include a 390 Scrambler as well.

The two test motorcycles are still in the testing phase and do not appear to be production ready yet. Both bikes however, clearly are meant for more than just tarmac use, with a tall stance. However, the latest 390 Adventure looks a lot different from the previous test mule of the 390 Adventure spotted almost a year ago. The latest test mule seems to sport a spoked front wheel, possibly a 19-inch wheel, with a 17-inch cast wheel at the rear. Clearly, KTM seems to be still testing various types of wheels, and it's still not certain, if the 390 Adventure will end up having two variants eventually - a more road-focussed tourer, as well as a true-blue off-road machine.

The second bike is more a surprise, because, so far, there have been no indications of a KTM 390 Scrambler being in development. The Scrambler seems to share a lot of components with the 390 Duke, including the front end with a different suspension, similar fuel tank and similar dimensions. Even the Scrambler test mule is running a spoked front wheel, and a cast alloy wheel at the rear. The 2017 EICMA show will kick off early next month in Milan, and we hope to see at least one of these variants, if not both. As for an India launch, expect more details soon, but we don't see them being launched before late 2018 or even early 2019.
