India Kawasaki Motor has launched the 2017 Ninja H2, H2 Carbon and the mighty H2R in the country just weeks after introducing these models at the INTERMOT show in Germany. Dealerships across India have commenced accepting orders for the flagship H2 models.
While the H2 was introduced in India last year, the track only H2R comes here now and is priced at a whopping ₹ 69.80 lakh. Meanwhile, the 2017 H2 carries a price tag of ₹ 33.30 lakh and the limited edition H2 Carbon is priced at ₹ 39.80 lakh (All prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
The Ninja H2R is Kawasaki's flagship offering and was first unveiled at the EICMA Motorcycle show in 2015. The litre-class offering is a strictly track-only bike, not legal on public roads, given the overwhelming power and is also the only bike at present to get supercharging tech on board. In fact, the Ninja H2R is a good 50 per cent more powerful than the road legal H2 that makes 197bhp of power. To give you perspective of how powerful the H2R is; well, it holds the record of hitting a top speed of 400 km/h.
For the 2017 model year, the upgraded Ninja H2 and H2R benefit from a host of changes including Kawasaki's advanced electronics package now equipped with IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), updated KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control) and KIBS (Kawasaki Intelligent Anti-Lock Braking System).
Both bikes get a revised exhaust system to meet Euro 4 emission norms, along with clutchless downshifts, tailored ergonomics via Kawasaki Genuine Accessories and allow riders to customize their riding position using an ERGO-FIT raised handlebar kit. The Ohlins TTX rear shock takes care of the rear suspension, while the updated instrument cluster gets a bank angle display and max bank angle recording function, which is now possible courtesy of the updated IMU. Lastly, you get an updated boost indicator and an IMU indicator.
For those that think the Ninja H2 is pretty standard, Kawasaki has introduced the limited edition H2 Carbon as well that has production limited to just 120 units globally. The company hasn't disclosed the allocated units for India though. That said, the H2 Carbon makes things a tad bit more special with a new variation of Kawasaki's silver-mirror paint and features a matte element.
The new paint is identical to the one used on the Ninja H2R and also gets a green coloured frame, same as the closed-course model. Distinguishing the limited edition even further, Kawasaki has individually numbered each of the H2 Carbon models and the serial number is featured on the supercharger plate.
On the mechanical front, things remain the same on the Kawasaki Ninja H2 and H2R with a 998cc liquid-cooled 4-cyclinder engine power the models. On the H2, the motor is tuned to churn out 207bhp of power and 133.5Nm of peak torque. Whereas, the H2R gets extensively updated on power and belts out 321bhp and 165Nm of torque.
