Airbags are likely to soon be made mandatory in all cars in India

With car safety quickly climbing the priority list in India and across the world, the government of India is said to be planning to make airbags and ABS a mandatory provision on all trims of all cars. In view of the future safety norms, several manufacturers have initiated introduction of a myriad of safety features to their respective model line-ups. Maruti Suzuki also recently made ISOFIX mounts a standard provision across the Ciaz carline.

As far as the American carmaker goes, while it has introduced ABS with EBD on the Trend trim of Ford Figo and Aspire, it already offers driver airbags as standard across its entire model range in India, that comprises Ford Figo, Asipre, EcoSport, Endeavour, and Mustang.
