Eicher Adds New CNG Powered Trucks To Pro 1000 Series

The new CNG powered Eicher Pro 1000 series trucks promise to cleaner emissions and more fuel efficient than their standard versions, and will first go on sale in Delhi NCR.

Expanding its range of clean energy powered trucks, Eicher Trucks and Buses has launched new variants for the Eicher Pro 1000 series in the CNG category. The CNG variants are now available with the Eicher Pro 1049, which operates in the Light and Medium Range, as well as the Eicher Pro 1059 that operates in the 5 Ton LCV category. The manufacturer said that it aims to capture the last mile delivery segment of customers in the green corridor of the Delhi NCR region with the CNG options. The new CNG powered trucks will also fall in line with the government's proposed 'Clean Fuel Corridor' across the Northern belt.
Speaking on the new offerings, VE Commercial Vehicles - Executive Vice President, Light & Medium Duty Trucks and Buses, Shyam Maller said, "The new Eicher Pro 1000 CNG versions are a perfect solution for customers who demand best-in-class rated payload, high fuel efficiency, superior uptime, lower maintenance cost for transport operator, enabling faster a turnaround time. Aligning with the business ambitions of the customers and providing lifetime profitability in the segment, the new CNG variants offers exciting new features and an engaging purchase experience to be an economic, friendly choice for customers."
The new Eicher Pro 1000 and Pro 1059 CNG powered trucks are powered by the new E483 four-cylinder, 2V engine that promises higher fuel efficiency, long oil drain interval and ease of service and maintenance. The Eicher Pro 1049 is ideal for intra-city distribution and last mile connectivity. The standard versions were launched back in 2016 and have been successful for the commercial vehicle manufacturer. The Pro 1049 also comes with the longest cargo body of 10 feet in its class, and the highest payload of 2.5 tonne in the sub-5-tonnage segment. A large fuel tank capacity of 170 litres also makes for lesser stops between refills, allowing operators to maximise on the number of trips.
With respect to the Eicher Pro 1059 CNG version, the heavy-duty truck has been designed to address city applications with larger cargo. The truck comes in cargo body options of 12 feet and 14 feet respectively. The CNG trucks also come with an industry first smart fuel filling valve that is compatible with all CNG stations and promises to decrease the time taken to fill gas.
The Eicher Pro 1049 and 1059 CNG trucks have been introduced in Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh for now, and will be made available across the country soon in various cargo body options ranging between 10 feet and 14 feet.


Maller further stated that the sub-5-tonne category has great potential to grow as it addresses last mile connectivity and distribution in rural, semi-urban and urban areas. Eicher has garnered a 26 per cent market share in this space, and the company sold close to 3000 units last year, a growth of about 80 per cent. The Delhi NCR network promises a great opportunity for the company's CNG range to grow in the LCV category while offering cleaner technology to the end customers.
