The BMW C 400 X was first showcased as a concept at the 2017 EICMA motorcycle show. It was a statement of intent from BMW that it is ready to enter the mass-market scooter in Europe (The Europeans' idea of a mass-market scooter is very different from us Indians' idea). Nonetheless, the X 400 X concept looked cool with its typical BMW asymmetric styling and its non-conformist attitude. And now, BMW Motorrad has gone ahead and filed a patent for the production model of the C 400 X. We believe that BMW could name the C 400 X concept at C 400 GT or C 400 Sport like the company's C 650 range of scooters.
The production model seems to be a little different from the concept scooter that was showcased at EICMA 2017. The specifications of the C 400 X have already been up at certain country specific websites of BMW Motorrad. The scooter will have a 350 cc single-cylinder engine that will make around 34 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm and it will have a maximum speed of 140 kmph. Like all scooters, this one too will get a continuous variable transmission unit (CVT). Up front, the scooter will have 35 mm telescopic suspension with a travel of 110 mm. At the rear, the scooter has dual springs, with a travel of 112 mm. At the front, the C 400 X will have a 15-inch aluminium wheel with 265 mm dual discs. While the rear gets a 14-inch wheel and a single 265 mm disc. ABS will be standard.

BMW will also offer a variety of accessories for the C 400 X when launched such as heated seats, anti-theft alarm and BMW's connectivity package as well, which includes a colour TFT display and smartphone connectivity.
