Honda has released yet another teaser video of what is now confirmed to be a 2018 model of Honda's touring motorcycle, the Gold Wing. While earlier teaser videos were a little subtle and not really hinted at the Gold Wing, the latest teaser video leaves no doubt that a new Honda Gold Wing will indeed be launched on October 24. The series of teaser videos, titled "Discover What Lies Beyond" focusses on travelling long distances on a motorcycle, and the latest teaser Honda has left no doubt that the upcoming motorcycle will indeed be the new Gold Wing.
The video celebrates the 43-year history of the Honda Gold Wing, the flagship tourer from the Japanese two-wheeler giant. The video shows a montage of the Gold Wing through the decades, using footage from old commercials, and showing the bikes being used for long trips, sometimes with a passenger. While the earlier teaser videos had built up somewhat of a suspense, the latest teaser video leaves no doubt that Honda will indeed be launching a completely revamped Gold Wing for 2018.
Two variants of the Honda Gold Wing are expected for 2018; the standard touring-focussed Gold Wing with a manual transmission and another one with a dual clutch automatic transmission (DCT). The DCT variant will be more of a bagger, called the F6B, according to latest reports. More details will be revealed when the motorcycles are finally launched, come October 24.
Recent leaked images show the new Gold Wing with sharper styling, but more importantly, features a new hub-centred steering with a Hossack-type front fork. Also new is a full-colour TFT screen with three small LCD screens flanked by two dials. Keyless ignition, heated grips and seat, audio and phone connectivity, cruise control, electronically adjustable windscreen, satellite navigation and a host of electronic rider aids, including semi-active suspension are going to be offered as a comprehensive features package on the new Gold Wing.
