2017 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Revealed Ahead of New York Motor Show

As the norm goes, the folks at Affalterbach, Germany go bonkers with every new Mercedes that comes by and the latest to get the AMG treatment is the new generation GLC (previously GLK) SUV. Ahead of its public debut at the upcoming New York Motor Show later this month, the Stuttgart based automaker has revealed the 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 AMG 4MATIC performance SUV. The new GLC AMG is the latest model to join the new '43 AMG' lineup introduced couple of months ago and like other models, uses a V6 motor to propel its wheels.

Starting with the aesthetics, the new generation Mercedes GLC gets aggressive upgrades including the re-profiled front and rear bumper with larger air vents, side skirts and a rear diffuser. The twin-slat grille on the standard GLC is replaced by the diamond one that adds a bold touch to the package. Further adding to the appeal are the new 19-inch high-gloss black 5-spoke alloy wheels that look stellar, whereas the trademark quad exhausts find a place too.

2017 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Interior

The luxurious cabin of the Mercedes GLC is spruced for a sporty tone on the GLC 43 AMG with oodles of leather and suede in place. The flat-bottom steering is the perfect give away of the SUV's performance credentials, while keeping the front occupants snug are the sport seats. Furthermore, you get contrast red stitching across the cabin as well as red seat belts and a revised instrument cluster.

Moving to the interesting bit under the hood, the 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 uses a 3.0-litre V6 petrol motor tuned to belt out 362hp of power and 520Nm of torque. The engine comes paired to the 9G-Tronic automatic transmission with shortened shift times. The unit also adds five DYNAMIC SELECT modes namely - Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. Power is sent to all four wheels using the Mercedes' 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, which is configured to have a rear bias - 31:69 and helps the GLC AMG complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.9 seconds, while hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

The new Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 will go on sale globally later this year and chances are high that the German auto giant could bring this model to India. The standard GLC is already slated for launch in the country and this performance derivative will make for an interesting addition to the growing lineup of AMG models already on sale.
