Maruti Suzuki Ritz Preview

First shown at the 2008 Auto Expo, Ritz was officially launched in Indian market in 2009. The sporty hatchback shares design cues and engine set up with Maruti’s flagship model, Swift. Available in petrol and diesel fuel options, Ritz comes in manual and automatic variants. Fuel economy returned by the hatchback is pretty impressive like other Maruti cars, especially the diesel manual variants.

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Exterior

The tall boy design works well for the hatchback. In front it gets two-part grille, boomerang fog lamps on the lower bumper and large upswept head lamps. On the side, it features black moulding, rising belt-line with supporting line at the bottom and embossed wheel arches. The tyres are undersized as compared to the metal mass resting on it. The rather flat rear profile features boomerang tail lamps, integrated spoiler and large body coloured bumper with reflectors.

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Interior

The dual tone colour theme is in tandem with the sporty exterior. Dashboard design is elementary and the quality of material used is in line with the non-premium products from Maruti India. There are multiple storage points in the cabin and feature list is on par with rivals in the segment.

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Engine Specifications & Transmission

Powering the petrol variants is a 1.2 litre, four cylinder, engine generating 86bhp and 114Nm. The engine comes mated to a manual gearbox and select variants are offered with an auto unit. Diesel range comes equipped with Fiat sourced 1.3 litre, engine seen on other Maruti cars. Outputting 74bhp and 190Nm, the diesel engine is available with a  five-speed manual transmission.

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Features

External features like smiling front, vertically stacked up boomerang tail lamps, upswept headlamps and integrated rear spoiler style the exterior. Inside, Ritz packs in day and night inside rear view mirror, digital clock, tachometer, light off/key off reminder and several other features.

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Performance & Mileage

Petrol manual variants return 18.50km/l as against 17.16km/l delivered by automatic trims. Diesel range is more fuel efficient with fuel economy rated at 23.2km/l.

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Accessories & Infotainment

Only the range topping variant gets radio, CD player, USB port and four speakers.

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Braking & Handling

Ventilated disc brakes in front and drun units at rear provide stopping power.

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Safety & Security

Dual airbags are provided in select variants, front ELR seat belts, 3-point ELR seat belts on rear seat, immobilizer, fog lamps in front & rear, ABS with EBD on select variants, power door lock, manual door lock and front seat belts with shoulder adjuster.

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Comfort & Convenience

Ritz gets a handful of comfort features on the outside and inside such as height adjuster for driver’s seat, 60:40 split rear seat, keyless entry, steering mounted audio controls and new information display.

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Wheels & Tyres

Tyres are available in two sizes, 165/80 R14 and 185/70 R14 trims. Alloy wheels are offered only on the top-of-the-line variants, while the rest of the line-up gets wheel covers.

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Competition

The entry level B segment hatchback stacks up against rivals including Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat, Ford Figo and a few others.
