Maruti Suzuki Omni Preview

The Omni is an affordable and frugal urban van for large families and taxi operators and despite being a very old product, the car still sells more units than many of its competitors. The Omni petrol is powered with Maruti?s legendary 786cc, three-cylinder petrol engine with a four-speed manual transmission. The car is also sold in an LPG trim.

Maruti Omni is one of the first models launched by Maruti Suzuki in 1984 after it started operations in India. The mini-van or more commonly known as the people-mover, is offered in five-seat and eight seat layout. The family car is available in petrol engine option only, deriving power from a 796cc petrol engine paired to a manual transmission. With a basic styling on the outside and inside, Omni is a fundamental eight-seat people-mover that offers only a handful of features.

Maruti Suzuki Omni Overview

Over the years, Omni has undergone various changes, although it still looks quite dated in terms of looks. Inside, there is comfortable space for five and an option for eight-seat layout as well. For power generation, it uses a 796cc petrol engine coupled to a four-speed manual gearbox. It is essentially a basic people mover that comes in four variants including the five-seat, eight-seat, cargo and ambulance trims.

Maruti Suzuki Omni Exterior

Omni has a boxy semblance and gets minimal styling elements, mostly in line with its outdated looks. It gets rectangular headlamps, black bumpers in front & rear, sliding doors, square-like wheel arches and small tyres.

Maruti Suzuki Omni Interior

The cabin is available with five and eight seat layout, although, the luggage storage space is cramped in the eight-seat version due to the addition of third row. Dashboard gets a cup holder and has space for other utility items. Seats are covered with dual-tone upholstery and assist grips are provided in front and rear for hassle-free ingress and egress of the occupants.

Maruti Suzuki Omni Engine Specifications & Transmission

The 796cc, three cylinder, four stroke engine is placed under the front seats and transmits drive to rear wheels. Outputting 34bhp at 5000rpm and 59Nm at 2500RPM, the engine is a bit underpowered and is linked to a four-speed manual transmission.

Maruti Suzuki Omni Features

On the outside Omni features thermoplastic bumpers in front and rear, mud-flaps, outside rear view mirror in right, body graphics and clear lens headlamps. Inside, it gets reclining seats, adjustable front seat head restraints, sliding seat for driver, rear view mirror, floor carpet, steering lock, lockable glove compartment and seats belts in front & rear.
