Mahindra eKUV100 Latest Updates

The Mahindra eKUV100 looks exactly identical to its petrol derivative, and we expect minimal changes on the production-spec version including possibly a revised grille, along with reworked headlamps and taillights. The interior will remain largely unchanged as well, but we expect to see a larger infotainment system in place and possibly a digital instrument console as well.

Power on the Mahindra eKUV100 will come from a 40 kW electric that belts out about 53 bhp and 120 Nm of peak torque. A single-speed transmission will be sending power to the front wheels. The car will come with a 15.9 kWh lithium-ion battery and is expected to offer a range of 120 km on a single charge.

During the launch of the Mahindra KUV100 facelift, Pawan Goenka had mentioned that Mahindra is planning to introduce electric versions for all its future crossover and SUV models, and the KUV100 EV will be the first one to be electrified. Earlier the company had also talked about the possibility of an electric XUV Aero Coupe, based on the Mahindra XUV Aero Coupe Concept, showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. The company is currently working on a long-range electric motor which could go up to 350 km on a full charge, which could be the one used the XUV Aero Coupe EV. They have also announced that EV 2.0, which will be their next generation of EVs starting from March 2020 will have a new set of powertrains which will be a high voltage, high-performance powertrain which has a potential to give aspirational vehicles. So that powertrain is being developed and they are going to supply it to SsangYong Motors in Korea.
