Hyundai i10 Preview

Hyundai’s entry level B segment hatchback i10 made its debut in Indian market back in 2007. Launched in petrol version initially, the company soon added an LPG variant to the line-up. Under the hood it gets a 1.1 litre, four cylinder petrol engine that powers the entire range. Transmission duties are handled by a five-speed manual missing out on the auto box.

Priced between Rs 4.34 lakh to Rs 5.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), Hyundai i10 is a feasible choice in the entry level B segment which is available in petrol and LPG fuel options. Rivalling the likes of Maruti Suzuki Celerio in the segment, i10 lacks auto box as well as an oil burner offered on popular models like Celerio and Tiago. Besides, the hatchback also lags behind in terms of comfort and safety features missing out on features such as ABS and airbags to name a few.

Hyundai i10 Exterior

Exterior styling is contemporary; in front the hatchback gets hexagonal grille with a brief chrome garnish on upper grille and honey-comb mesh on the lower side. The pulled back petal shaped head lamps flank the radiator grille and lower side of bumper houses large fog lamps. Side profile is suave, with no prominent character lines. On the rear side, i10 gets an integrated spoiler, body coloured bumper with reflectors and angular tail lamps.

Hyundai i10 Interior

Interior design is very basic, something one would expect of an entry level B segment hatchback. The dashboard has a dated design with chunky dials and buttons. While in terms of space, the cabin is comfortable, there is enough room in front for driver and passenger.

Hyundai i10 Engine Specifications & Transmission

Powering the small car is a 1.1 litre, four cylinder, SOHC petrol engine developing 68bhp at 5500rpm along with 10.1kgm at 4500rpm. The hatchback is available with a choice of five-speed manual gearbox missing out on an auto box.

Hyundai i10 Features

Clear lens headlamps and rear combination lamps, wing mirrors, 2-tone chrome grille, full wheel cover and waistline moulding are some of the eminent exterior features. Inside the cabin,  i10 packs in features like blue interior illumination, centre console tray, front door map pocket, rear parcel tray etc.

Hyundai i10 Performance & Mileage

Fuel economy for the petrol powered variant is quite impressive, the hatchback is claimed to return ARAI rated mileage of 19.81km/l.

i10 Accessories & Infotainment

The top spec variant features a 2 DIN radio with CD player, MP3 audio, AUX-in, USB ports and 4 speakers.

i10 Braking & Handling

Ventilated disc brakes in front and drum units at rear provide power to retard speed.

i10 Safety & Security

Hyundai i10 lacks essential safety features like airbags and anti-lock-braking system. Other safety equipment available on the hatchback include engine immobilizer, day and night inside rear view mirror, central locking for all doors, fog lamps in front, foldable key and keyless entry.

i10 Comfort & Convenience

Standard comfort features offered on i10 are i-Relax front seats, i-Relax gear console, air conditioner with heater, electric power steering, remote fuel lid opener and internally adjustable wing mirrors. Power windows in front & rear and driver side front power window with auto-down and illumination are available on mid-level variant onwards.

i10 Wheels & Tyres

Tyres measuring 155/80 R13 are fitted in front and rear. Alloy wheels are missing from the model series; instead the range spec variant comes with full wheel covers.

i10 Competition

In the entry level B segment, Hyundai i10 goes up against rivals like Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Tata Tiago. While Celerio comes with a choice of AMT, Tiago offers various segment first features. Besides, both the models get primary safety equipment such as airbags, ABS etc.
