Hyundai Elantra Preview
Based on Hyundai’s latest design language, the new-gen Hyundai Elantra sports fresh elements and a bunch of new features that add more value to it. With new models gaining traction lately, all the attention was averted to the emerging segments, but thanks to the quick facelifts and generation leaps, the mid-size premium sedan segment is regaining heed. Coming back to the new Hyundai Elantra, the sedan has received copious aesthetic changes right from the face to the side profile to the rear end. Inside, it is more comfortable with ample room for passengers seated at rear and for front occupants. It is armed to teeth when it comes to features with a raft of goodies packed inside. Mechanicals include the new 2.0 litre petrol unit and the 1.6 litre, oil burner borrowed from Creta. Apart from the changes made to the sedan, the success of the new-gen model is attributed to the introductory pricing. That said the new Hyundai Elantra price is just spot on compared to rivals.
Hyundai Elantra’s sixth generation model witnesses sea changes in terms of looks with the fluidic curves gone, yet it looks upmarket and premium. Launched at an introductory price of Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) the saloon has received multiple new elements on the outside like the LED headlamps with DRLs, the tail lamps with the three pentagon motif and a few others. Hyundai doesn’t shy away from loading its cars with high-tech equipment and Elantra takes this notion to the next level. Engine options include both petrol and diesel units and a plethora of features are packed in the saloon.
Hyundai Elantra Exterior
Ditching the flexuous fluidic design, the sixth gen Elantra sports the fresh ‘European’ design philosophy on the outside, traces of which are also seen inside the cabin. There is a slight increase in length and width by 20mm and 25mm respectively. Front profile features hexagonal radiator grille, boomerang shaped air-intakes and LED fog lamps. View from side is largely the same with additions like sporty alloys, character lines and sharp ORVMs with integrated turn indicators. The long wrap-around LED tail lamps with three pentagon motif and new boot-lid bring about a prominent change to the rear side.
Hyundai Elantra Interior
Wheelbase measuring 2700mm translates into a spacious cabin that comes with a host of technological aides. Hyundai has used high quality plastic inside and seats are comfortable too. Although, the dashboard looks a tad cluttered with a large instrument cluster and dash-mounted chunky AC vents. Multiple storage points are provided in the cabin like floor cup-holders, bottle holders on doors, a cubby hole on floor console.
