Ducati Diavel 1260 Latest Updates

Ducati’s big power cruiser gets updated for 2019 with new styling, a new engine with variable valve timing, and a host of electronic rider aids and advanced rider assist systems. More importantly, it gets an updated engine and new chassis, to make it agile, powerful and an entertaining ride with solid road presence. The Ducati Diavel 1260 will replace the existing Ducati Diavel in India, and gets a slightly bigger engine.

Ducati says the new Diavel 1260 is the perfect blend of a superbike, sport naked and a cruiser, and its design inspiration is taken from muscle cars and superhero comics. In any case, the new Ducati Diavel 1260 is an evolution of the Diavel power cruiser, and it does make a nice blend of the mass- forward design, characterised by the sleek and tapered rear end, and muscular and sculpted fuel tank. Add to that full-LED lighting, with a futuristic face and an inimitable silhouette, it’s clear why there’s nothing else quite like the Diavel 1260. It still retains the familiar Diavel power-cruiser design, but there’s more than just minor tweaks to the new 1260’s design.

At the heart of the matter is the new 1,262 cc, Testastretta DVT L-twin engine, which now puts out 159 bhp at 9,500 rpm and generous 129 Nm of peak torque coming in at 7,500 rpm. More importantly, it now gets variable valve timing, called Desmodromic Valve Timing, which offers performance and pulling power across the rev range. The Diavel 1260 also comes with a comprehensive suite of electronics rider aids, including Bosch cornering ABS, Riding modes, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control, Ducati Launch Control, cruise control and a bi-directional quickshifter. The top-spec Ducati Diavel 1260 S goes a bit further in its level of equipment and offers fully adjustable Ohlins suspension, with radially mounted Brembo M50 monobloc callipers, cast and machined rims and standard Ducati multimedia system.

The new frame and bodywork give the Ducati Diavel 1260 a slightly different look from the outgoing Diavel. Both the standard Diavel 1260 and the Diavel 1260 S get the Ducati Link App which offers smartphone connectivity, and also offers adjustments in the 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) assisted Ducati electronics package, including ride mode, ABS and traction control settings. It also offers recording routes and riding speeds. Despite being a little heavier than the outgoing model, the Diavel 1260 promises to offer superior agility and sporty handling characteristics, coupled with a modern engine and impressive performance.
