The new BMW X1 SUV is based on the UKL platform that allows it to shed 135Kgs. It also gets improved cabin space, thanks to the taller and wider body shell. The all-new BMW X1's wheelbase has been increased by 90mm, and also sports an 85-litre increase in boot space and a 37mm increase in rear knee room.

The list of most noticeable design updates on the new BMW X1 comprises larger dimensions, updated LED head and tail-lamp units and a mildly updated form of the company's signature kidney-shaped 2-part front grille.

BMW X1 Exterior

The second generation X1 looks notably larger than its predecessor with 53mm increase in height, although the length has been decreased insignificantly. Front profile  gets BMW’s signature kidney-shaped grille,  round fog lamps, large air-dams and pulled-back head lights. The hood is wider featuring subtle creases. Other key elements include flared wheel arches, star-spoked alloy rims and wrap-around tail lamps. 

BMW X1 Interior

Altered dimensions implicate larger cabin space, specifically at rear which now offers more room to the passengers. Dashboard has a chic design, instrument cluster is large and easily visible to the driver. Centre console gets the large colour display, AC vents and an infotainment system. 

BMW X1 Engine Specifications & Transmission

BMW X1 is available with a single engine option- a 2.0 litre, four cylinder, petrol engine producing 190bhp at 4000rpm and 400Nm between 1750 to 2500rpm. The engine comes mated to an eight-speed steptronic automatic transmission including launch control and gearshift paddles.

Exterior features including LED headlamps with LED DRLs, cornering lights, adaptive light distribution, parking lights, fog lamps and LED tail lamps are standard across range. On the inside, X1 packs sliding armrest in front with storage compartment, rear centre armrest with 2 cup holders, velour floor mats, 40:20:40 rear split seats etc.

The 2.0 litre petrol engine is claimed to yield imposing fuel economy of 20.68km/l. 

BMW X1 Accessories & Infotainment

An iDrive touch controller with 22.3cm display, split screen and integrated hard drive for maps is offered on the top-spec variant, while rest of the trims feature 16.5cm display with AM/FM and radio. Bluetooth with handsfree, USB/AUX-IN connectivity and audio streaming, navigation Plus and BMW head-UP display are some of the other significant features available on X1. 

BMW X1 Safety & Security

BMW has provided six airbags across line-up and features like anti-lock-braking system with brake assist, cornering brake control, dynamic stability control, electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor, ISOFIX chid seat mounting and three-point seat belts at all seats are  put in place to avert injuries. 

BMW X1 Comfort & Convenience

Comfort features available on new X1 include power adjusting & power folding ORVMs with anti-dazzle and parking function, rain sensor and automatic driving lights, 2-zone air conditioning, electrically adjustable driver and co-passenger seat with memory function for driver’s seat, panorama glass roof, sport seats for driver & co-passenger, start/stop button, lights package, ambient lighting, multifunction sport leather steering wheel etc.

The SUV gets a choice between 17 inch double spoke and 18 inch Y-spoke style alloy wheels.
