The BMW R 1250 GS Adventure is the top-spec variant of the new BMW R 1250 GS, and it shares the same engine, chassis and design, but has slightly more adventure capability. The R 1250 GS Adventure comes with a larger 30-litre fuel tank, standard crash protection and off-road spec cross spoked wheels. The R 1250 GS Adventure also comes with a standard luggage rack and plastic hand guards. The R 1250 GS Adventure gets a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT display with Smartphone connectivity which shows the rider everything about the motorcycle as well as navigation, music and telephone connectivity.
At the heart of the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure is the new 1,254 cc boxer twin engine which puts out 136 bhp at 7750 rpm and 143 Nm at 6250 rpm. The biggest change in the engine though is the new ShiftCam Technology, which is essentially variable valve timing. The result is improved torque, reduced emissions and better fuel economy. The BMW R 1250 GS comes with cast aluminium wheels with a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear and gets the BMW Motorrad telelever suspension at the front with 37 mm stanchion diameter. At the rear, the R 1250 GS gets paralever suspension with spring pre-load and rebound damping adjustability.
With the optional Riding Modes Pro, the range of applications of the R 1250 GS Adventure can be further extended and adapted to different riding situations and purposes. In addition to the throttle, the control behaviour of ABS, dynamic traction control and suspension compensation Dynamic ESA are adjusted. New additions to the Pro riding modes include HSC Pro and the new Dynamic Brake Assistant DBC, which assists in emergency braking. Six different seat versions, from the standard seat to the rally seat to the comfort seat with seat heights ranging from 800 to 900 mm are available.
