Great OverLand Adventure Reaches Home

Having traversed 25 countries and conquered many miles, #GLAadventure approaches the end of this epic journey.

First the cars reach Delhi from Manipur to celebrate India’s 70th Independence Day at Rashtrapati Bhavan and finally these cars and the team head to where it all started at Mercedes Benz India plant in Chakan, Pune. Almost a year ago this global drive was flagged off from this very plant and that is where this epic journey finally comes to an end.

Here are the final moments of team #GLAadventure after it entered India.

#GLAadventure in Asia
Over 44,000 kilometres on the Odometer at Imphal, Manipur. That's what #GLAadventure has clocked so far on this drive.
From Manipur the cars head to Delhi. The arrival of cars in Delhi coincide with India's 70th Independence Day and #GLAadventure spends a special day at the Rashtrapati Bhavan to mark the end of the drive.

‘These cars may have been all over the world, but there is no feeling that can match this moment, no setting that can make us this happy and proud,’ team #GLAadventure as they end this ‘larger-than-life’ of drive at the Forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
From the spectacular ‘Change Of Guard’ Ceremony to exploring the magnificent Durbar and Ashoka Hall – #GLAadventure gets special access inside the Rashtrapati Bhavan. #GLAadventure cars share the frame with the President's custom-built, heavily armored limousine. The heavily armored limousine meets the requirements of the highest protection class VR6/VR7.
Time to get nostalgic! A year ago from this very place, Eberhard Kern, the then MD and CEO flagged off the Great OverLand Adventure journey and today the heroes of #GLAadventure's global drive return to where they started from, the Mercedes-India plant in Chakan outside Pune.

Until We Meet Again
In this one year, the Great Overland Adventure travelled through 25 countries across Europe, Africa, North America, Central America, Australia and South East Asia. It covered close to 50,000 kilometres. But more than the kilometres clocked, the journey was made epic by the places and the people who became part of #GLAadventure's journey and made it an experience of a lifetime.
The road has been around since 1941 and includes a stretch that’s Australia’s longest straight road (and second longest in the world).More
