Omm Nom Nom Nom!
Despite the road conditions, reaching Mawlamyein results in another stunning meal for the day. Soup here was the show stealer!

Aug 08, 2016
The road from Mae Sot to Mawlamyein gets worse as night falls though and our progress is pretty slow. We hope to get there before dinner time!

Trying our best to capture the beauty of the sky tonight! Our next stop is Mawlamyein the capital of Mon State in Southeastern Myanmar and is the fourth largest city in Myanmar.

Myanmar Will Surprise You With This..
95 octane petrol is everywhere in Myanmar which costs just 40 rupees and the high speed diesel is 25 bucks.

Life On Road!
After some un-freaking-believable road, there is a narrow bumpy single-carriageway where you average is less than 40kmph. Such is life on the road, and we don't mind it one bit.

Aug 08, 2016
Myanmar is not one of the best roads to drive but what a spectacularly beautiful country it is - Thank you, Myanmar for such picture perfect memories!

Aug 08, 2016
The local street food - Prawns anyone?

The Best Of Myanmar
Now crossing the famous iron bridge - The stunning view from it, almost makes up for the bad roads.

Aug 08, 2016
Food, Dhaba Style!
Best thing about road trips - You get to eat some extraordinary roadside food. We are enjoying our fantastic dhaba lunch in Myanmar.

It is a typical Burmese lunch - On the menu are fresh vegetables, salads, pickled chili, beans, mutton, beef, chicken, fish served with unlimited rice  on the side.

Our Highway Diaries
We are at Asian Highway 1, which is the longest route of the Asian Highway Network, running 20,557 km from from Tokyo, Japan via Korea, China, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran to the border between Turkey and Bulgaria west of Istanbul where it joins end-on with European route E80.

Look at this spectacular countryside; this is one of the last un-spoilt places in this region.

Making Friends Wherever We Go!
This is a crime reporter we met at the Thai-Myanmar border, what's interesting is that reporters on the crime beat in Myanmar actually have uniforms!

Aug 03, 2016
Myanmar is a left hand drive country so on top of Friendship bridge you switch lanes too! That means once we are on the bridge we need to cross over to the wrong side of the road. Because in Myanmar you drive on the right unlike in Thailand.

The Selfie Spot!
We are on 'the road to Mandalay' picture! One taken at the exit point of Thailand and the other at the entry point of Myanmar.

We reached Mae Sot, a district in western Thailand that shares a border with Burma to the west, on time despite the downpour.

Rewarded with the world's best Thai dinner!

Our Adventures On The Road to Mandalay

Aug 03, 2016
Need We Say More
That's what faces that have driven over 1000 kilometres crossed borders and been on the trot for 19 hours, look like.

Aug 03, 2016
Day four was another long day of driving for us, as the stats of the GL rightly suggest 1000 kilometres.

It's the last leg of ‪#‎GLAadventure! Our Mercs are coming home via Thailand & Myanmar.  And the ‎Road To Mandalay begins now!
